At the tender age of early-thirty-something, Sun realized she had seen it all. Much like the forgotten bottle of dirty martini mix in the back of her cabinet. At the very least, she would’ve been concerned for the horrified man’s well-being. ![]() Normally, Sheriff Sunshine Vicram would’ve been alarmed at the sight of a knitting needle sticking out of a guy’s neck. ![]() When life hands you lemons, hand them back. ![]()

![]() ![]() The mathematical and computational models driving these changes range in complexity from something that can fit on a spreadsheet to a complex system that might credibly be called "artificial intelligence." They are steadily replacing both human judgment and explicitly programmed software. And as autonomous vehicles share our streets, we are increasingly putting our lives in their hands. We can no longer assume that our mortgage application, or even our medical tests, will be seen by human eyes. ![]() Algorithms decide bail and parole-and appear to assess Black and White defendants differently. ![]() Systems cull resumes until, years later, we discover that they have inherent gender biases. Researchers call this the alignment problem. When the systems we attempt to teach will not, in the end, do what we want or what we expect, ethical and potentially existential risks emerge. Recent years have seen an eruption of concern as the field of machine learning advances. Today's "machine-learning" systems, trained by data, are so effective that we've invited them to see and hear for us-and to make decisions on our behalf. References to Ganesha in the earlier Puranas, such as the Vayu and Brahmanda Puranas are considered to be later interpolations made during the 7th to 10th centuries. History about the birth of Ganesha are found in the later Puranas, composed from about 600 CE onwards. Other incidents are touched on in the texts, but to a far lesser extent. ![]() These incidents are mainly three: his birth and parenthood, his elephant head, and his single tusk. ![]() In his survey of Ganesha's rise to prominence in Sanskrit literature, Ludo Rocher notes that:Ībove all, one cannot help being struck by the fact that the numerous stories surrounding Gaṇeśa concentrate on an unexpectedly limited number of incidents. He is worshipped as the lord of beginnings and as the lord of removing obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the god of intellect and wisdom. Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify. ![]() ![]() However, accused by a rival of forging a work by Kanō Tan'yū, he was dismissed from his post.
